What is Phibrows Microblading?
Phibrows microblading (Microblading Academy by Branko Babić) is a permanent makeup method of drawing eyebrows where pigment insertion is done with micro blades, which simulate natural look of hairs with various lengths and densities. In this method we do not use tattooing machines. Hairs are drawn shallow in the skin with special blades. Due to this specific method, natural look of eyebrows is achieved easily. Entire shape of eyebrow is not filled with pigment (felt pen effect), hairs are drawn in their natural growth direction.
Phibrows method of microblading, is developed to conform to the “Phi” ratio (1.618) also known as” Golden ratio”, and helps in mapping out facial contour by designing the shape that compliments all facial features.

Frequently asked questions
Most frequent questions and answers about PhiBrows microblading.
The microblading technique is intended for anyone over the age of 18 who wants to correct the aesthetic problems of their eyebrows. In order to successfully perform the treatment, the skin must not be in the regeneration process, in other words, it must not be damaged.
If there is eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, rosacea, pimples or any damage in the eyebrows area, chances are your skin is in constant state of unrest and is not suitable for microblading and therefore won’t hold the pigment well. In other words, your skin will not retain the color well and intended effect of microblading.
Microblading is usually done in two separate sessions. For new clients, the procedure can take up to 3.5 hours, which includes consultation, consent form signing, questions, brows shape measurements, and the actual procedure when the pigment is applied. The second session is scheduled for touch up, after four to six weeks from the first procedure, and takes up to two hours.
Pain during the treatment is relative. Before microblading begins, your brows are treated with light anesthetics, in form of cream to reduce any discomfort. Topical anesthetics are safe and may contain lidocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. The level of pain is similar to eyebrow threading and is no worse than regular waxing or plucking.
If you are under a physician’s care you must obtain a release from him/her prior to your procedure.
Abrasive treatments such as peelings, fruit acids, chemical peels, laser treatments and similar should be avoided a month before the treatment. Also, one month before the treatment, Botox or fillers should not be used.
Prior to procedure: no excessive sun exposure, sweating, tanning or sunburn on your face. Do not work out the day of the procedure as the body heat expands the pores.
If you get your eyebrows waxed or tinted, please have this done at least 72 hours prior to your procedure.
Do NOT take blood thinners (Aspirin, Coumadin, Tylenol, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen) 72 hours prior to your procedure.
Do not drink coffee, alcohol or energizing drinks on the day of treatment.
Pigment is applied manually on the surface layer of the dermis. Pigment is determined according to the natural color of the eyebrows and hair. After healing, pigment can become several nuances brighter compared to natural hair color.
Treatment is done by using sterile and disposable tools, while pigments are of the highest standard (PhiBrows microblading pigments).
First step in the healing procedure:
- Within 1 hour after the procedure, clean brows using a Q-tip and lightly moisten with distilled or cooled downed boiling water.
- Gently wipe away the old healing balm and any lymphatic liquid (clear yellowish liquid) that may have built up.
- Lightly pat dry with tissue and using a new Q-tip, re-apply healing balm to the brows.
- Make sure to apply a light layer of healing balm morning and night to brows for at least 5-7 days. Try not to over-apply healing balm.
- The eyebrows must not get wet while washing the face or having a shower. When cleaning or washing face, make sure to avoid brows and clean around it. Using a wet face towel may help so that you are not risking water contact.
- Remember to not put makeup on the brow area for a minimum of 10 days. The microbladed area is an open wound, using makeup may cause infections
- Avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 24 hours.
In the next 30 days avoid:
Suntanning, sunbeds, light (laser) therapy, chemical peels, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors. You should always avoid laser treatments over the treated area during the healing period (Fraxel laser, IPL) because they can destroy the pigment and cause inflammation. Faster fading out of pigment can happen if the clients use antibiotics or hormonal therapy. Always protect your eyebrows from the sun by using sun protection cream (not only during the first 7 days).
It will take up to ten days for healing. During the first 7 days, avoid all creams (except the protective ones), all the makeup (foundation) in the eyebrow area. Avoid exercises that cause excessive sweating, sauna, facial massage and inhalation.
An inserted pigment is very dark during first 5 to 7 days. 7 days later, it loses up to 40% of its intensity. If you think that pigment is too dark, do not try to fade it by yourself. Be patient, first wait for 7 days until pigment fades away naturally.
For how long the pigment will be retained mostly depends on the skin oiliness. The oilier the skin is –the shorter pigment retention is. Sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention. On average, expected time until new refreshment of pigment is 10 to 18 months. If the skin is oily, it takes up to 6 months.
Healing is completely done 28 days later and then it is necessary to add the pigment that was lost in the meanwhile. A touch up session is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. If the skin is problematic and oily, several such corrections can be made. Post-treatment care makes 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously stick and adhere to the given advice, because if you don’t do that, you can lose up to 80% of drawn strokes. Rinsing and applying the cream is of great significance.
